About our special guest
Dr. Quibria Guthrie grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (USA). She obtained her bachelors of science degree in 2015 from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee where she majored in chemistry with a concentration in biochemistry and minored in anthropology. Her love for research started as she participated in The Ronald E. McNair Research Scholar Program and began undergraduate research. Under the leadership of Dr. Xiaohua Peng, she worked on the synthesis of quinone methide precursors for anti-cancer prodrug strategies. Quibria obtained her doctorate of philosophy in chemistry in 2021 from North Carolina State University (USA). Under the leadership of Dr. Caroline Proulx, she worked on the synthesis and analysis of N-aryl amino acids for their use in mild bioconjugation reactions. After completing her graduate program, she became a research scientist in the life science division at CEM Corporation where she continues to work on peptide synthesis methodology and new synthesis instrumentation.
