Nanoparticles

Superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) nanoparticles consist of a magnetite (Fe3O4) core with a functionalized surface. Their magnetic properties make them particularly useful, especially for magnetic resonance imaging or as targeted drugs for magnetic therapy. Depending on the desired application these nanoparticles can be further modified with a wide range of available chemical functions to fine-tune their chemical properties. In addition, iron oxide nanoparticles are widely used in research to study the biodistribution of drugs, cell-nanoparticle interactions, and various other biological processes. Further derivatives can be provided based on custom synthesis.
