Biotin conjugated benzylcytosine (BC). The BC moiety reacts specifically and rapidly with the so-called CLIP-tag, a polypeptide protein tag, allowing irreversible and covalent labeling of clip fusion proteins with biotin. Biotinylated proteins can for example be selectively isolated based on the high affinity towards avidin representing a useful tool for purification, immobilization, and labeling.
