Monofunctionalized dextrans carrying a single functional group on the end of the polymer. These monofunctionalized dextrans can be used much like PEG-it can be used to increase protein half-life, reduce immunogenicity, and passivate surfaces.
The dextran main chain is alpha-1,6-glucose with about 5% alpha-1,3-branching.
