Fmoc-TOAC is used to synthesize spin-labeled peptides for ESR studies.
It has to be noted that using solid-supported synthesis radical activity might be lost during deprotection with TFA or HF. The crude spin-labeled peptides can be submitted to alkaline treatment (pH 10, for 1 h at 50°C) for complete reversal of the N-O protonation that occurs during the HF or TFA cleavage reaction.
