This fatty-acid modified Lysine building block is investigated for its use in surfactant, micelle, and nanoparticle research. It can be used to introduce lipophilic chains into peptides. Fatty Amino Acids are reported to improve the pharmacokinetic and pharmacologic properties of peptide APIs and other biopharmaceuticals. Serum lifetimes can be drastically improved as the fatty acid residue helps to bind temporarily to serum albumin. This enhances stability towards proteolytic degradation.
