The site-specific labeling of proteins by chemical reactions has gained increased interest for the investigation of cellular processes. In this regard, the CBT-Cys „click“ condensation reaction has found wide applicability in recent years. The reaction is highly biocompatible and controllable and runs under physiological conditions. It is based on the condensation between an N-terminal L- or D-Cysteine with the cyano group of CBT.
