Plant-Derived Cholesterol

Plant-Derived Cholesterol

Typically, Cholesterol is extracted from natural animal sources, e.g. sheep’s wool grease, coming along with risks associated to products of animal original, like unwanted immune reactions or fluctuating product quality. We provide Cholesterol derived from plant-extracted Phytosterols allowing for bulk scale production of entirely animal-free Cholesterol. This synthetic strategy allows for consistent product quality in accordance with Pharmacopeia requirements. The lipid Cholesterol may be used to produce lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for RNA transport and drug delivery.
